What land clearing actually looks like on your property.
Land clearing is what happens before something permanent goes into the ground, a house, a shop, a pond, a pasture fence. Unlike mulching, this removes the trees entirely, root balls included, because a foundation, a septic field or a pad cannot sit on ground with buried roots underneath it.
We run an excavator alongside a track loader so felling, stump pulling and debris handling happen in one continuous sequence. That keeps the site from sitting torn open between phases and hands your next contractor a lot that is actually ready for them.
Schedule My EstimateBest suited for
- New homesites and shop pads
- Pasture reclamation and cross fencing
- Commercial and industrial lots
- Pond banks and waterfront access
- Septic fields and utility runs
- Subdividing acreage before a sale

This is a build step, not a cleanup step
Most people calling for land clearing already have a plan in hand, a house plan, a barn footprint or a pad a builder is waiting on. The work is sequenced around that plan, not just around what looks tidy, because the goal is ground someone else can build on next.
- Timber dropped in the sequence your build plan needs
- Access road protected and kept passable through the job
- Site handed off ready for the next trade, not for more cleanup

Root balls come out of the ground entirely
A pad built over a buried root ball settles, and settling shows up as a crack in a slab a couple years later. We pull the stump and the root mass rather than grinding the top off, backfill the hole and compact it so the ground behaves the way an engineer expects.
- Root balls extracted rather than surface ground down
- Holes backfilled and compacted in lifts
- Buried debris removed instead of covered over

You choose what happens to the debris
Some owners want everything chipped and spread back on the property. Some want it burned under permit. Some want it hauled off entirely. All three are options, and the written quote states which one you are paying for before a machine moves.
- Chip and spread, burn under permit, or haul off site
- Burn permits pulled and monitored where allowed
- Site left raked clean rather than covered in trash wood
Every clearing job includes this, no upsell required.
- Site walk with keeper trees flagged and utilities located
- Felling, limbing and removal of standing timber
- Stump and root ball extraction with holes backfilled
- Debris chipped, burned under permit or hauled per your quote
- Rough grade so the surface drains and sheds water
- Final walkthrough with any punch items handled on the spot
What moves the number up or down.
We do not publish a flat rate because no two properties in Effingham County are the same. Density, access, terrain and how much has to leave the site are what set the price. Here is roughly how jobs sort out.
Scattered small timber, open understory, easy access from a county road.
One to two acres of mixed pine and hardwood taken to a build ready pad with stumps out.
Mature hardwood, wet ground, utility conflicts or tight access that requires extra care.

Springfield, Rincon, Guyton, Pooler, Bloomingdale, Statesboro, Savannah, Richmond Hill, Pembroke, Sylvania, Clyo, Port Wentworth and the surrounding communities within fifty miles of Springfield.
If a foundation, septic field or pad is going into that exact spot, you need clearing, because roots left in the ground will settle under a slab. Mulching is the right call for the acreage around the build footprint that you just want opened up.
We pull burn permits when burning is part of the scope and follow Effingham County and City of Springfield requirements for that. Land disturbance permits on larger commercial sites are typically filed by the owner or general contractor, and we supply whatever documentation they need from us.
Yes, that is routine work for us. The compact track machine fits through a standard gate, we protect the drive and yard, and everything drops into a controlled work zone away from the house.
It will be rough graded and free of stumps and organics, which is what a foundation crew needs from us. Final pad elevation and compaction testing typically run through your builder, and we are glad to coordinate directly with them on timing.
Merchantable timber gets sorted for pickup when there is enough volume to justify it. Everything else is chipped, burned under permit or hauled, whichever you selected on the quote.
Keep the same crew on the whole job.
